On Thursday evenings, during the months of July and August, one of the best places to catch a film is in the Brooklyn Bridge Park. Admission to the series of outdoor cinema events is absolutely free, and the movies featured are a variety of popular films that are a few years old, as well as short films from a selection of independent filmmakers. Lawn seating is available in the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park segment of the park. It is advisable to bring a blanket along, as well as food and beverages, but keep in mind that alcohol is not allowed during movies in the park.
 
Each of the outdoor movie events begins at 6:00 PM, with performances by some of the most popular disc jockeys in the city. The music is provided by the local organization known as Brooklyn Radio. As the sun goes down, the visitors will be able to enjoy the featured movies under the stars, with a gorgeous view of the Brooklyn Bridge, the East River, and the New York City skyline in the background. Those arriving by bicycle can find secure parking close by, and those who drive to the event can park either on the street, or in one of five nearby parking garages. Finally, pets are not allowed in the park during the outdoor movie events.
