Brit’s Summer Movie Series: Appropriately, British movies will be spotlighted at the Brit’s Pub film series, every Monday from Aug. 3 to Sept. 7 in the rooftop garden (if it rains, the movies move indoors). District Del Sol Music and Movies: Every Thursday from June 18 to Aug. 6, “Music and Movies” offers free family-themed movies along with live music (districtdelsol.com). This year’s titles have not been announced, but last year movies from around the world were paired with bands that shared the films’ cultural heritage. “Music and Movies” is at Parque Castillo, 200 Concord St., St. Paul.

Solera Movies on the Rooftop: Just like a drive-in but without the cars, this Minneapolis restaurant’s movie series starts at dusk. Every Tuesday and Wednesday through Sept. 16, Solera shows free titles, including “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” “Reservoir Dogs” and “In Bruges” (for a complete schedule, visit solera-restaurant.com). This year, Solera won’t have to cancel movies if it rains — they’ll just move indoors. 900 Hennepin Ave., Mpls.

Summer Music and Movies: Walker Art Center and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board team up annually for this wildly popular series. The idea this year (July 20-Aug. 18) is to get lost in the late Paul Newman’s baby blues, just as the sky is turning from blue to starry. The lineup of supposedly (but not actually) “early Newman” includes “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” and “Cool Hand Luke,” and the bands playing before the movies include hot, hot Halloween, Alaska. Vali-Hi Drive In: Early in the evening, the movies tend to be kid-friendly, but the Gs and PGs give way to Rs for the final part of Vali-Hi’s triple features.
