An annual event in the city of Boston since 2001, The Mayor's Monday night movies are a chance for residents and visitors alike to gather in the city's neighborhood parks for family friendly outdoor cinema events. A different film selection is shown every week on large outdoor movie screens, ranging from classics like the Wizard of Oz to the most current family favorites. Picnickers are welcome to come prepared with a blanket and a meal to enjoy a relaxing night of movies in the park with friends, family, and neighbors-- just be sure to arrive early to get a great view. These outdoor movie events are held in a different Boston park each week, including Independence park in South Boston, Orchard Park in Roxbury, Boston Common, and Playstead Park.
